Played football and wrestled in high school and was captain for the football
team. He served 2 years in the US Army '46-'48 in the Aleutian Islands
refurbishing trucks and was the brake remodeler. Sam worked for Victory
Markets for 32 years, 25 as manager of the Bainbridge Store and also at the
Sidney and Unadilla locations. Sam met his wife Caroline in high school
where she was head cheerleader and they have been married 50 years and have 6
daughters: Susan, Mary Jean, Donna, Sandy, Caroline and Denise.
Denise was an exchange student to Australia. Sam joined Rotary in 1960
and has been a member since then except for a short leave of absence. He
was president in 1981-82 and is a Paul Harris Fellow and was a chaperone for
the youth exchange program USA trip. Sam is also involved with his

he enjoys hunting, fishing, and gardening. Sam is in charge of the house

almost always at work meetings especially those involving cooking.
Congrats to Sam for being October's Rotarian of the Month.
